If You Were Involved in an Accident with a SUNRISE RENTACAR Vehicle

1. Ensure Safety and Contact Emergency Services if Necessary

2. Report the Accident to the Police

Please report the accident to the police even when the damage appears minor. An official police record may be necessary for insurance handling and verification of the circumstances of the accident.

If the police have already attended the scene, please retain any information, report number, officer information, or other documentation provided to you.

3. Preserve Accident Information and Evidence

If it is safe to do so, please preserve information that may assist the police, insurance companies, and other parties in determining the circumstances of the accident.

How the Claim Will Be Handled

Accident circumstances, responsibility, compensation, repair costs, medical expenses, and other insurance matters are reviewed according to the facts of the individual accident and the applicable insurance conditions.

SUNRISE RENTACAR staff and the rental vehicle driver cannot make a final determination of legal liability, compensation amounts, or insurance coverage at the accident scene. These matters must be handled through the appropriate insurance and claims process.

If you are insured, you may also provide the information on this page to your own insurance company so that your insurer can communicate with Sompo Japan or the relevant claims representative directly.

Please Do Not Make Private Settlement Arrangements with the Driver

Please do not request or make direct payment arrangements, private settlements, repair agreements, or compensation agreements with the SUNRISE RENTACAR customer who was driving the rental vehicle.

The customer is the temporary driver of the rental vehicle and is not authorized to determine insurance liability or enter into a settlement on behalf of TIPUI Co., Ltd., SUNRISE RENTACAR, or the insurance company.

If You Have Already Paid for Repairs or Other Expenses

Please retain all invoices, receipts, estimates, photographs, medical documents, towing records, and other supporting documentation.

Payment of an expense does not by itself determine whether the expense is recoverable under the insurance policy. The relevant documents should be submitted through the appropriate claims process for review.
