Everything you need to know about meeting our team, completing the rental procedures, and receiving your vehicle.
The exact procedure may vary depending on your selected pickup location, but the general process is simple:
Some locations, such as Naha Airport, require transportation to our office before the rental vehicle can be handed over. At other meeting points, the entire rental procedure may be completed directly at the location.
For example, if your Naha Airport pickup is reserved for 2:00 PM, our team will normally begin the pickup process around 2:00 PM.
You will then travel to the Sunrise office, complete the required rental procedures, inspect the vehicle, and depart afterward.
Please allow enough time for transportation and rental procedures when planning your schedule.
If you need to be driving the vehicle by a specific time, going directly to the Sunrise office earlier may be the most suitable option.
Your reserved pickup time is the time when you are expected to be at the agreed meeting point and ready to begin the pickup procedure.
A short delay of up to approximately 10 minutes is normally acceptable.
If you expect to be later than this, please contact Sunrise as soon as possible so that we can determine whether your pickup schedule can be adjusted.
If our staff or vehicle needs to return to the meeting point because you were not present at the agreed time, an additional pickup fee may apply.
Being somewhere inside the airport or near the pickup location does not mean that you are ready for pickup.
At the reserved time, you should already be at the agreed meeting point and ready to meet our staff.
Please complete activities such as:
before proceeding to the meeting point whenever possible.
If you leave the meeting area for an extended period, decide to have a meal, go shopping, or otherwise postpone the pickup without coordinating a new time with Sunrise, we cannot guarantee that our staff will remain waiting for you.
Your pickup may need to be rescheduled according to staff and vehicle availability.
Immediate pickup when you become available again cannot be guaranteed.
An additional fee may also apply if a staff member or vehicle must make an additional trip to the meeting point.
Sunrise coordinates multiple customers, rental vehicles, airport pickups, and other reservations throughout the day. A significant delay by one customer may affect the scheduled service of other customers.
Naha Airport is our most common pickup location.
Sunrise normally meets customers at the airport and transports them to our office, where the rental procedures and vehicle handover are completed.
Our office is approximately 10 minutes from Naha Airport, depending on traffic conditions.
Please proceed to the 3rd floor departure level.
Sunrise normally uses the permitted pickup area on the 3rd-floor departure level, between Exits 1 and 6.
Sunrise normally uses the area around Exits 3 to 5, with Exit 4 being the usual meeting point.
The exact exit may occasionally change depending on airport traffic, temporary restrictions, or operational conditions.
Please always follow the latest meeting instructions sent by Sunrise staff, as pickup locations may occasionally change due to airport rules, traffic conditions, temporary restrictions, or operational requirements.
Some customers expect Sunrise to pick them up directly in front of the international terminal entrances.
Some curbside and vehicle access areas around the international terminal are reserved or restricted for specific types of authorized transportation.
Sunrise therefore normally meets customers in the permitted pickup area on the 3rd-floor departure level, generally between Exits 1 and 6.
Exceptions may occasionally exist due to airport instructions, temporary restrictions, or operational arrangements, but the 3rd-floor pickup area is the normal Sunrise procedure.
Around your scheduled pickup time, Sunrise will normally send information about the pickup vehicle through the messaging app used for your reservation.
This may include:
Depending on the communication channel used for your reservation, these details may be sent through:
Airport pickup areas are intended for active passenger pickup.
Vehicles are not permitted to arrive and remain parked while waiting for passengers to come from another area of the terminal.
Please do not remain inside the terminal and begin walking toward the meeting point only after you see or receive notification that our vehicle has arrived.
Once Sunrise informs you that the vehicle is approaching, please remain at the agreed exit and be ready for immediate pickup.
If the passenger is not waiting at the agreed location when the vehicle arrives, airport rules may require the vehicle to leave the pickup area immediately.
A later return depends on traffic, staff availability, vehicle availability, and other scheduled pickups.
Immediate return cannot be guaranteed.
We understand that flight arrival times do not always match the reservation schedule perfectly.
If you arrive earlier and our team is already at the airport assisting another customer, we may sometimes be able to pick you up earlier.
However, early pickup depends on the day's operation, traffic, rental vehicle preparation, and staff availability.
Airport traffic rules, vehicle access restrictions, designated pickup areas, terminal layouts, and other operational procedures may be changed by Naha Airport or the relevant authorities without prior notice.
The information on this page reflects the normal Sunrise pickup procedure at the time of the latest review, but airport rules or operating conditions may have changed after this page was updated.
If current airport instructions differ from the information shown here, the latest airport rules and the instructions provided by Sunrise staff will take priority.

Customers may also come directly to the Sunrise office.
This is normally the most direct pickup procedure because no airport or meeting-point transfer is required.
Going directly to the office can also be useful if you have a strict schedule and need more control over your arrival time.
Asato Station is a meeting point, not a Sunrise office.
The customer travels independently to the agreed meeting location, and the Sunrise team brings the rental vehicle to the meeting point.
When the entire rental procedure can be completed at the meeting point, there is normally no need to travel to the Sunrise office.
Naha Cruise Port has two nearby passenger terminals:
Both terminals are located relatively close to the Sunrise office.
Depending on the reservation and the day's operation, pickup may be handled in different ways.
When operationally appropriate, the procedures and vehicle handover may be completed directly at the port.
Customers may also choose to take a taxi directly to the Sunrise office. Because the terminals are nearby, this can sometimes be the fastest option.
The final arrangement can be coordinated after the reservation is confirmed.
Tomari Port is very close to the Sunrise office.
Depending on the exact terminal and your luggage, it is generally possible to reach our office in approximately 5–10 minutes on foot.
Pickup arrangements may include:
Unlike Naha Airport, port locations may allow more operational flexibility regarding where the rental vehicle is handed over.
Sunrise may also arrange pickup at hotels or other locations within Naha when operationally possible.
Availability depends on several factors, including:
Locations farther from our normal service area may be subject to an additional fee.
In heavily congested or difficult-to-access areas, Sunrise may suggest a nearby meeting point instead.
For example, during busy periods around Kokusai Dori, meeting at a nearby accessible location may be considerably faster and more practical than attempting to enter the most congested area.
When Sunrise transports a customer between a meeting point and our office, the transportation is provided only to facilitate the vehicle rental process.
Its purpose is to help us:
Our staff and vehicles are not available for personal transportation requests unrelated to the rental procedure.
Requests outside the normal scope of the rental pickup process may therefore be declined.
Before the rental vehicle can be released, all drivers must present the original documents required to legally drive in Japan.
Depending on your country, driver's license, and applicable rules, required documents may include:
If the legally required documents are missing, invalid, expired, or otherwise insufficient, Sunrise may be unable to release the rental vehicle.
For prepaid reservations, the applicable cancellation or no-show conditions may apply when the vehicle cannot be released because the required driving documents were not provided.
To make your pickup as smooth as possible, please:
Our goal is to complete the procedure efficiently while making sure that the rental, documentation, transportation, and vehicle handover are handled correctly.
If you are unsure which pickup option applies to your reservation, contact Sunrise before your rental date.
We can confirm the appropriate meeting point and procedure based on your reservation and arrival location.
